LIFESTYLE

Challenges are immense for the conservation of a healthy environment. At the same time, we can change our everyday lives by making small and sustainable adjustments. Our lives will still be fulfilling if we approach social change together! We won’t spare essentials if today we become part of a new global movement!

Changes need mainly to be focused on consumer behaviour and mobility.

We will still be travelling in future and be mobile.  We will still be eating tasty, nutritious and healthy food.  There is relatively little we must change for a healthy and viable planet. But without those collective changes we won’t succeed.

Positive changes for a sustainable transition:

  • Plant based diet. Plant based nutrition will protect our planet compared to animal food as it will create more space for the environment, animals and humans.

  • Ecological mobility. In times of climate change, how much sense do vehicles make that emit CO2? Let’s rely on public transport, car sharing, cycling, walking and ecological drive concepts.

  • Flights. There are plenty private and professional reasons for trips by plane in a global society. At the same time aircraft CO2 emission is one of the highest as such. If you want to travel by plane, take care of an efficient CO2 compensation and support reforestation programs. Short haul flights and weekend trips should be avoided. Consider, in general, if you need to take the plane or if there are other options.

  • Cruises. Cruise ship companies often use heavy fuel oil, which is bad for the environment and expedites climate change. Ecologic alternatives are sailing boats and sustainable transport companies.

  • Energy. Cheap energy often is produced from coal or in nuclear power plants. Burning coal emits especially high values of CO2 and producing power in nuclear plants involve unpredictable risks. Clean power is the risk free and positive alternative.

  • Consumer goods and packaging. Disposable cups, plastic straws, forks and bags pollute the environment. Myriads of questionable consumer goods and often unnecessary non-recyclable packaging have made their way into our everyday life. There are plentiful eco-friendly alternatives scas rcycl
    ed, second-hand, or shared products.

Your ecological contribution can be calculated easily. Everything that consumes a lot of energy and is unsustainable is bad for our planet and by association bad for the world’s population. Engines use energy, industrial production consumes large energy resources, private consumer goods use energy (e.g. mobile, laptop, tv) that very often is produced from inefficient or non-ecological sources.

At the end of the day everything is related and directly connected to us, the consumer.
